The year was 1970. In the suburbs of Malkajgiri, a young, energetic P Ramakrishna Rao in his twenties, went about selling sarees on a bicycle. People loved how meticulous he was with the quality and considerate with price. He even introduced an installment scheme which won him loyal customers.
As business flourished, Mr. Rao and his wife, PV Kumari, permanently moved to Malkajgiri, opened a bigger shed and put up a display of sarees and textiles. Such was the response that Mr. Ramakrishna realized; this was more than just a hobby. This could be something bigger. He could improve people’s lives for the better.
That’s when he decided to take the plunge into full-time entrepreneurship. With the support of his family and customers, Mr. Ramakrishna Rao opened his first store, a single storied building in Malkajgiri. And that’s how the Anutex we know today was born.
One Vision. One Family
News about Anutex spread far and wide in no time. People from various parts of Hyderabad came in large numbers to the store. While Mr. Rao was making a name for himself, little did he realize that he was being watched very intently. By his children. In 1983, the eldest son Srinivas decided to follow his illustrious father into the business. Soon, over the next decade, the other two children Nageswara Rao and Rajasekhar took the plunge, making it a fully family owned business serving the vision of the founder, Mr. P Ramakrishna Rao.The tradition continues to this day, with the third generation also taking up the mantle of taking Anutex forward into the future.
Expansion across the city
By 1995, the Malkajgiri store underwent a full upgrade. From a single floor, it was renovated to a three-floor building. From selling fabric and sarees, Anutex started selling readymade dresses for children, ladies and gents alike.
The first seeds of expansion got sown in the year 1991, with the second store in the bustling Lakdikapul. Gold jewellery and silver items were introduced in the year 1999, with an exclusive jewellery store measuring 400 sft in Malkajgiri.
In the year 2007, Anutex opened a small store in LB Nagar to cater to the residents of the area. This was followed by a series of new stores in Uppal (2013, January) and AS Rao Nagar (2013, May) which were received with great patronage.
The latest store at Kothapet threw open its doors in the year 2017.
